A great means to preserve continual peace and tranquility of soul is to receive everything from God, both great and small, and in whatever way it comes. St. Dorotheus.

During a pandemic like the one we living in now it is easy to put your hands up and let the days pass by waiting for things to return to normal but what we fail to realise is things are not going back to normal, the way we live will be changed forever. Your job(if you return to it) will not be the same way you left it. You should expect the market to have shifted, the goals of your company to have changed and for there to be new problems to be solved and we will have to adapt to that. The only constant thing is change.

In no apparent order, and mind you this is not an exhaustive list. It should inspire you to create your list giving your circumstance.

1. Draw

You don’t have to be a great artist to draw something nice. Pick up a piece of paper and sketch something on it, it has been a while you drew something, well why don’t you re-evaluate yourself and see how better or worse you have become. You can paste them in the corner of your room.

Naruto (without color) by me

2. Play an instrument

If you have an instrument lying around that you haven’t played for a long time because you have been busy with work or life now you have time on your hands to kill, learn a few strings this period. There are also musical apps you can practice with.

3. Cook a new meal

This might be a little difficult seeing as food is becoming a scarce commodity due to the pandemic, but if you have food or can buy, why don’t you look up a new recipe online and see if you can prepare it. You can use google or youtube to learn how to prepare it. You can try french toast or hash browns, they are easy to prepare.

4. Write a blog post

Sometimes we wait till we have great stories to write about before we do. Well, yes, people love great stories, however, great stories are regular stories told engagingly. You can take online courses on writing to help you improve. When this is over you will have one more skill in your arsenal. Remember the whole world is going through the same stuff and nobody has the answer we can all share our day to day stories or something you have learnt maybe someone out there will benefit.

5. Learn a course online

There are a lot of different learning resources online, so pick what you what to learn it can be simple or difficult but make sure you have an intention don’t just do it for the sake of it then go online and search for materials to learn that subject, my favourite is Youtube almost everything is on there. For software development you can check out Coursera, Udemy, Pluralsite etc. they also offer other courses asides software development you can check them out.

6. Workout

We know summer is cancelled for this year but you can still have your summer body nothing stops you, this can be difficult at this moment but there are apps such as Madbarz, Runtastic etc to help you stay fit. You don’t have to do anything too serious just some light workouts can be good something to keep you busy.

Some other ideas include: Meditate, learn a new language, praying, read some books, declutter any place in your home you have left for a long time etc. The times we are living in now can be confusing, frightening or chaotic but it doesn’t have to be for you. I am sending love and light your way.
